Dad took me and Jill around 7:55pm. Got to Scholar Bowl practice. Jeremy, Nissa and Mark went to Red Bud thing all day. Went to home room. Talked about ch 11 in Con Ed. She yelled at us. Got half an hour to read ch 11. She gave us our grades (B+). Stupid stuff in English. Took straws and corn. Didn't use them. Reading hour 3rd hour. Read "Planets" about Venus and Mars (TAYE). Harry had my "Countdown" and ghost book. 3 minutes till end of class, I heard "twang, twang, twang." I thought, "Oh no!" Mr Salanik sang "Groovy Kind of Love" in the quietness of reading hour. He was good! We clapped, so did Mercer's and Dodson's classes. Then half the school came over for encore. He played "La Bamba - Summer of '69 - Twist and Shout - Groovy Love" medley. Lasted almost to tardy bell. Mercer took pictures. A real crowd-pleaser. Long day, I'm warning ya! Got to Physics. Did problems all hour. Easy stuff. Pizz for lunch. Got Barb's bread. Darrin and I sat at round back table in study hall. Talked about planets and TAYE. Left. Met Aaron. Went back to library study hall for 6th hour. Mr Salanik had study hall. Aaron and I sat at the same table Darrin and I sat at. Aaron threw pencil at ceiling. I read sleeping book. Salanik kept coming over to us and warning us, everybody really. Barb and Michelle too! Folk dancing in Mercer's area. Pumpkin carving contest: Glenn, Harry and Darrin. Last 5 minutes everyone went to the commons. 3rd place: Shulte's PE. 2nd place: Kerkhover's class. 1st place: Coleman's PE (US!) We got a 3-level pumpkin trophy full of candy. Got lots (around 55 pieces). Anyway, we had Mr Coleman in Driver's Ed car. Silly. Put candy and books in jacket. Rode home with Darrin. He dropped Scott off, then me. I put junk away. Joe called. Launched "Maelstrom" into orbit! Made computerized TAYE records more complete. Jeremy called. Joe came over. Played computer (Gyruss, Music Maker, etc). Drove Joe home around 5:30pm. Jimmy over. He, Mom and Dad ate Chinese. Stopped by Harry's. He and DeAnn going to the movies. Took Joe home. Came home. Jeremy and Mark here. Went to Belleville with them (Mark drove). Listened to punk music. Got gas in New Athens. Went to the Mall. Saw Mrs Dodson. Went to music shop, Hardees, piano store, pet store, B Dalton, Tinder Box (Mark got clove cigarettes, he smoked them all evening). Left to Rally's. Ate outside in the cold. Left. Got tickets for 9pm "Pumpkin Head." Jeremy paid back $6 for Space Shuttle coin. I used it. Went to Christian bookstore. He got tape. Back to movies. Saw Joe B and Kendra there. Waited till 9:25pm to show movie. Mark on far left of theater, me next to him, Jeremy on my right, fat lady (smelled like Gordon) next to Jeremy, lady in front of Mark. Guy with bulge haircut in front of me. Tall guy in front of Jeremy. Kendra and Joe right behind us. Theater was packed. After movie, we left. Drag-raced Kendra by Mermie Cemetery. She won. Looked for dumb station wagon: gone. Went by haunted house. Then by haunted beauty parlor. Had severe nose drippage. I still do! Came home back way. Dropped Jeremy off, then me. Tired. Nose running. Might go to Granite tomorrow. Oh, Darrin went to Fright Nights with a bunch of people. Guess that about wraps it up.
Mermie Cemetery is what we called a certain cemetery in Fairview Heights.
